Haven NetWorks -HNW- Corporation, EVE Online

About Us

Haven NetWorks is a small but growing Corporation. We have big plans, big ideas and we're recruiting good people to join us and help us build a really excellent Corp. We're largely based in the UK but have members and friends overseas, notably Canada; besides, you can often find us online at all sorts of weird hours day and night. We formed from The Haven Net [THN] community and so the core of our playgroup have known each other for quite some time across a number of other games and activities. However, we welcome new people and we think you'll find we're a friendly bunch to play with.

Corporate Structure

We've put a lot of thought into how we want our Corp to work, how the various bits of it fit together. The pictures below show some of the highlights of our thinking.

Our Principles

We don't believe in a set of complex rules that it'd take a lawyer to decode so we like to keep things simple, state things in broad terms as to how we like things to work. Below are our basic corporate principles that we require all our members to keep to; these are our initial peace time rules which we may need to review in times of war.

  1. We follow the rules set out by CCP. Specifically, we do not engage in real money trading (RMT).
  2. We follow the guidelines laid out for THN Games, particularly when interacting with others in EVE, with the understanding that this is a game where ganking is part of the game even though it sucks; we still don't get offensive or disrespectful (but we can take names and aim to erase them from existence later).
  3. We are not pirates. We do not hunt down defenceless players just for the loot. Conversely, we're not push-overs. In war, we'll pop defenceless miners from the other side if that's in our best interests. We'll probably also privateer, hunting warships rather than freighters.
  4. We discourage ETC trading. Specifically, real money for ETC trading. We've nothing against it per se but we don't want to encourage a real money competition for in-game gains and we believe that things we earn "the hard way" are appreciated more and thus likely to build a stronger community.
  5. We are good samaritans. EVE is a social and political game and people remember those who helped them and are likely to do the same back for us in future.
  6. We are a team. It's a lonely universe in EVE by yourself so we play together as often as we can and look for ways to help each other out, in and out of game, towards our EVE goals.
  7. We avoid podkilling. There'll be times in the heat of war where we may need to review this but, for all other times, we don't just avoid it we prohibit it.

Our Plan

We are in the process of reworking our direction (as of June/July 2009), focusing more on commerce and industry than we have in the past.
